Healthcare Leader Lee Memorial Health System Saves More Than 16,000 Labor Hours per Year with NetMotion Mobility
Lee Memorial Health System Selected as Finalist in the Non-Profit Category for the QUALCOMM and CMP Media 3GCDMA award
Seattle, Wash., September 28, 2004—NetMotion Wireless Inc., the market leader in mobility management software, announced today that its customer, Lee Memorial Health System, has been selected as one of three finalists in the non-profit category of QUALCOMM's second annual 3G cdmA-List™ Awards. The awards, sponsored by QUALCOMM, Inc. and CMP Media, honor the most innovative and successful, commercially deployed enterprise wireless data solutions based on third-generation (3G) CDMA2000 1X or 1xEV-DO technology. A total of eighteen finalists were selected, from which six winners will be chosen and recognized on October 25th at CTIA Wireless IT & Entertainment 2004 in San Francisco, CA.
"QUALCOMM is committed to enabling the entire wireless value chain and, working with companies such as NetMotion Wireless, to making CDMA-based mobile enterprise solutions highly successful for organizations like Lee Memorial," said Jan Dehesh, vice president of enterprise market development for QUALCOMM. "The Lee Memorial and NetMotion Wireless collaboration serves as strong validation for the power of 3G CDMA technology."
"Lee Memorial is an innovator in home healthcare," said Steve Cullen, CEO of NetMotion Wireless. "And the huge strides they've taken with their wireless deployment, enabled by our software, is yet another indication of the way such innovation results in hard dollar savings and real patient benefit."
About the NetMotion Wireless/CDMA Solution
Lee Memorial's home health workers—registered nurses, physical, speech and occupational therapists, medical social workers, and home health aides—provide a wide variety of medical services.
Using a CDMA network in combination with NetMotion Mobility, Lee Memorial now delivers better patient home care, replacing a time-consuming, paper-based system that once required home health workers to physically deliver their records to the main hospital campus. This mobile computing solution also has provided on-demand access to critical patient data at the point of care for better care decisions and more complete, correct documentation of each visit. Since home health care workers are able to spend more time on patient care, the hospital has seen increasing demand for its service overall.
"Using NetMotion Mobility in combination with our wide area data networking service, we were able to substantially increase the productivity of our home health workers as well as reduce the complexity of managing our mobile computing solution," said Jim Krouse, network engineer, Lee Memorial. "With 80 home health workers, this savings equates to more than 16,000 labor hours per year."
