NetMotion Wireless Releases New Version of Mobility XE Mobile VPN
Equips mobile workforces for growth with version 7.0 of Mobility XE, featuring Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone support, technical interoperability with RSA SecurID Two-factor Authentication technology and increased scalability
Seattle, WA — June 28, 2006 — NetMotion Wireless, the industry leader among Mobile VPN solution providers, today announced general availability of Mobility XE 7.0. In response to requests from large enterprise customers and prospects, the release includes major enhancements to security, scalability and mobile device support. Specifically, Mobility XE 7.0 includes Microsoft-certified support for Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphones, RSA Secured technical certification with RSA SecurID two-factor authentication technology, and an increase in scalability that results in support for deployments of up to 35,000 mobile workers.
“The new features in Mobility 7.0 were important factors in our decision to purchase Mobility XE for our global sales force using handheld devices,” said, Richard Oxenham, Mobile Solutions Specialist with Unilever. “We need to provide secure access for Windows Mobile 5.0 devices on several continents and the combination of certified RSA SecurID support, excellent performance, and enterprise scalability were features that we just didn’t find anywhere else.”
Windows Mobile 5 Smartphone Support
As part of this release, Mobility XE 7.0 achieved certification through Microsoft’s Mobile2Market program, becoming the first and only VPN to be certified by Microsoft as a “Designed for Windows Mobile” solution for Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone. Currently available on devices such as the Motorola Q, Cingular 2125 and T-Mobile SDA, Windows Mobile 5.0 for Smartphone includes features such as WiFi support and larger screen resolutions. Mobility XE now fully supports both Smartphone and Pocket PC versions of Windows Mobile 5.0 with a Mobile VPN solution that offers all the same functionality, security and integrated management enjoyed by laptop users.
By adding support for Windows Mobile 5 Smartphones, Mobility XE enables enterprises to roll out mission-critical applications to the growing number of users of these mobile devices. They can also apply application access and usage policies to these workers and manage Smartphone devices alongside their laptops, tablets and Pocket PC devices from a single, centralized management console.
RSA SecurID Two-factor Authentication, and PEAP Support
Security enhancements in Mobility XE version 7.0 include two new types of authentication methods. In a technology partnership with RSA Security, NetMotion Wireless completed technical interoperability processes with RSA SecurID two-factor authentication technology, including support for hardware and software authenticators such as key fobs, PINpads, software tokens, USB and Smart Card authenticators. As a result of this integration, the company achieved RSA Secured certification. RSA SecurID support is available on all supported Mobility platforms.
In addition, Mobility XE’s array of authentication options has been expanded to include the Protected Extensible Authentication Protocol (PEAP). This extends authentication to LDAP databases, as well as providing support for RADIUS password aging and expiration functionality and identity hiding. PEAP also enables the Mobility XE client to establish a mutually authenticated, secure EAP tunnel with the enterprise RADIUS server.
Increased Scalability
To meet demand from large enterprises, Mobility XE 7.0 now supports up to 15,000 simultaneous users—three times more than previous versions. Based on typical mobile worker usage patterns, this increase in scalability can support companies with more than 35,000 mobile workers.
Pricing and Availability
Mobility XE 7.0 is available immediately. Pricing starts at $15,000 for 100 devices, or $105,000 for 1,000 mobile devices.
