NetMotion Wireless Achieves Record Growth in Second Half of 2004; Adds Industry Veteran as New Chief Executive

Seattle, WA—February 8, 2005—NetMotion Wireless Inc., the market leader in mobility management solutions, today announced the addition of 109 new customers. New customers Continental Airlines and Atlanta Gas and Light add to a rapidly expanding list of enterprise organizations that rely on the company's software to make their mission-critical mobile computing deployments possible. Both purchased Mobility XE Enterprise Edition, which provides support for thousands of mobile devices.

NetMotion Wireless also announced that industry veteran Bob Hunsberger has joined the company as chief executive officer. With more than 20 years of executive leadership in the wireless industry, Hunsberger brings key insights and experience that will be critical to managing the company's rapid growth. Most recently, Bob was CEO of Widcomm, which was acquired by Broadcom in 2004. Previously, he was the CEO at Metawave Communications and has held senior positions at Nortel and Siemens.

"After years of industry promises, the era of mobile computing as an essential part of mission-critical enterprise operations is finally here," said Hunsberger. "Wireless data networks are ready, devices have matured and, as our customer growth demonstrates, enterprise demand is there. I joined NetMotion Wireless because their software is the best in the industry and I believe their solution is part of the engine that will propel enterprise adoption of mobile computing."

Strong enterprise sales efforts by cellular carriers, maturing wireless technologies, and increased enterprise demand for field-worker productivity are driving greater demand for mobility management solutions. Today, tens of thousands of mobile workers use Mobility XE to get connected and stay connected to mission-critical applications over wireless networks. Mobility XE solves essential problems of application access and performance, network security and centralized management of complex, multi-network mobile computing deployments.

"Over the past 18 months, NetMotion Wireless has grown from just 70 customers to nearly 600," said Bob Wolfe, Chairman of the Board. "Bob Hunsberger has demonstrated an outstanding ability to manage rapidly growing technology companies like ours and has the strategic acumen to ensure we stay focused on the right things to further accelerate that growth."

Deployments Highlighted

The largest natural gas distributor in the Southeast, Atlanta Gas and Light provides delivery service to customers in a nine-state region. Over 800 Atlanta Gas Light technicians use laptops and a combination of private mobile radio and Verizon Wireless wide-area data service for access to essential field applications, including CAD and CRM. Mobility XE provides end-to-end wireless security, seamless roaming between network environments, Policy Management, and compression & link optimizations that have increased network throughput by 100 percent. Because of Mobility XE, the company was able to use existing applications over wireless networks without expensive and time-consuming customization or modification.

Continental Airlines has purchased and deployed Mobility XE to enable up to 1,000 "ruggedized" mobile devices used by its baggage and mail handlers, mechanics, and airport customer service agents. Before deploying Mobility XE, Continental worked for nearly two years to implement critical baggage-handling applications over its wireless LAN infrastructure. Network connectivity challenges in airport environments meant airline personnel had to re-authenticate and restart critical applications several times each shift—a process that took approximately six minutes each time.

Mobility XE resolved Continental's connectivity issues, providing reliable application access and saving time previously wasted by multiple authentications. In fact, Continental estimates a significant labor savings thanks to the solution. Mobility XE also provides session persistence, seamless roaming between Continental's access points (even on different subnets), and a wireless VPN that provides 128-bit AES encryption. The Mobility XE VPN is so transparent that it doesn't require employee training to use and doesn't "break" in a wireless environment.
