Sales Operations Manager

Sales Operations Manager

The Opportunity

The Sales Operations Manager (SOM) guides the performance of the Inside Sales team and assists the SVP in the smooth operation of sales support functions in the business. The SOM will play an integral role on the NetMotion Sales team providing leadership to a small and cohesive inside sales team, directing them in their roles as members of territory teams and helping to drive continued revenue growth. The SOM reports to the SVP of Sales and Business Development. In addition to team management, the SOM will work with the SVP and other functional groups within NetMotion to maintain and enhance the operational elements of the entire NetMotion sales team.

This position is located at NetMotion’s corporate offices in Seattle, WA.

Your Role as a Key Contributor

In this new role, the SOM will have the opportunity to define the position and how best to meet the needs of the company. The SOM must motivate and mentor the Inside Sales team, coaching them on effective prospecting, qualifying and closing techniques. The SOM is responsible for the continued success of the Inside Sales team and helping the team further grow revenue.

The SOM must be an effective liaison with the Territory Sales Managers and Systems Engineers to ensure that they receive the appropriate level of lead generation and customer support in the field, through their work with the Inside Sales team and/or by improving sales process and infrastructure. Success in this position will be measured through team quota attainment and hitting management business objectives (MBO’s).

Responsibilities

  • Manage a six person inside sales team. This includes establishing objectives for individuals and the team, training, setting of compensation plans, tracking and reporting on overall team and individual performance and making selection and termination decisions as necessary. The inside team is organized geographically into territory teams, so the SOM will also need to work with the individual Territory Sales Managers to ensure the inside team is working optimally to meet territory objectives.
  • Assist the SVP with running and enhancing overall sales operations. This includes managing and ensuring the sales team is optimizing the use of the company’s CRM system; working with the IT, Finance and HR teams to manage and enhance the company’s commission systems, quoting tools and customer databases; working with the Marketing team on developing and maintaining selling tools, acquiring lists and other lead generation programs, and managing and tracking of leads.
  • Act as the corporate liaison for the company’s Federal and European sales teams.
  • Actively participate as a member of the NetMotion team by sharing knowledge and committing to the achievement of common business objectives.

Qualifications

You will be well suited to taking on the challenges of this position if you have worked in sales for at least five years, three of which you’ve spent managing an inside sales team. Your transition will be much smoother if you ideally have worked in the high-tech industry, with experience in the wireless and/or enterprise security markets being preferred. Having experience working in verticals such as insurance, utilities, healthcare, public safety, telecommunications or other vertical with a large number of mobile field workers is desirable.

As a manager, you should have a track record of working with different functional groups to drive the creation and use of business systems and processes in a rapidly growing start-up environment. You will also have demonstrated success in strategic and tactical planning in a sales environment. Your strong organizational skills will help you to effectively manage the needs of your team, your peers and balance those against the needs of the business.

Due to the complicated nature of our software product you will need to have a basic understanding of TCP/IP network topology, security, or wireless data. Technically you must be proficient using Microsoft Office products as well as adept at utilizing a web based CRM and presentation applications and databases. You should also have a Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience.
